About

Deborah grew up in the water. A competitive swimmer in her youth, she spent countless hours swimming, training, and learning to feel at home in the pool. That lifelong passion grew into nearly 50 years of experience teaching children how to swim with confidence, joy, and safety.

Through decades of working with young swimmers, Deborah discovered the powerful role that storytelling and reading can play in preparing children for the water. By introducing swimming concepts before lessons even begin, she helps children move past fear and toward excitement. Her books use imagination and gentle guidance to make learning to swim fun—inviting children to blow bubbles, paddle like otters, and approach the water with curiosity instead of hesitation.

With far too many children affected by drowning each year, Deborah believes that learning the basics of swimming is more than a recreational activity—it’s a vital life skill. Helping a child become comfortable in the water builds confidence, promotes safety, and opens the door to a lifetime of enjoyment.

Beyond water-focused stories, Deborah’s love for children shines through in books that uplift, encourage, and inspire in many areas of life. Her mission is simple: help children feel brave, capable, and excited to learn—both in and out of the water.
